Three of the four beaches in Tenby are Blue Flag holders (North, South and Castle Beach), meaning they're internationally recognised for their cleanliness, safety and nearby amenities; and whilst Tenby's Harbour beach wasn't awarded a Blue Flag, it was voted the best beach in Europe in 2014, beating off competition from Portugal, Spain and other popular locations.
The town itself is steeped in history, with the old town castle walls dating back to the 13th century still surviving today. Visitors can admire such ancient structures as the Five Arches, which serve as an entrance to the town, and over 200 listed buildings. Strolling through the old cobbled streets will allow you to find the Tudor Merchant House and travel back in time to see what Tenby town was like in Tudor Times.
With over two and a half miles of stunning beaches and coastline, Tenby has easy access to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, which offers fantastic views of the must-see Caldey Island. An idyllic island set just off the coast of Tenby that's accessed via passenger boat from Easter to October, Caldey will give you the chance to explore sandy beaches and experience a completely different day out amongst a community of Cistercian monks who run the island farm and gardens.
Throughout the summer months, Tenby's town centre operates a Traffic & Pedestrianisation scheme. From 11 am to 5 pm each day, the town becomes a bustling location which restricts access to the centre to pedestrians only. Local cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops all take advantage of this scheme, which allows you to sample fresh local food and drink whilst relaxing outside in the sun.
For those wanting more than to just relax on holiday, Tenby has two local golf courses (Tenby Golf Club and Trefloyne Golf Course) and easy access to many local attractions, including Oakwood Theme Park, Folly Farm and many others.
