About Little Comfort

Little Comfort, a charming, deceptively spacious, stone cottage with distant sea views over the fields, is set in a small hamlet of Warren near Castlemartin. Attached to the owner’s own 200 year old cottage in 3/4 of an acre of grounds.

A stable door opens into the breakfast room with a practical tiled floor, one step down takes you into the newly fitted kitchen. The spacious sitting room with glimpses of the coast gives plenty of space to relax with leather sofas and a wood burning stove ensures a cosy feeling even on the chilliest of evenings. Stairs lead up to the large bedroom on the first floor, a welcoming retreat from which you can enjoy the distant sea views over the fields.

You are welcome to explore the owner’s garden and see their ducks, chickens and pygmy goats in their enclosures, or relax in your own small enclosed paved patio area where you can dine alfresco and admire the far reaching views of the sea and also enjoy the glorious sunsets. Guests will be fascinated by the action from the nearby viewing tower in Warren, which overlooks the Castlemartin Range, 6000 acres used for army training purposes, the manoeuvres can be quite stunning particularly at night.

The range nearby is part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park so perfect for walkers, there is seasonal access to footpaths which link into less frequented sections of the Coastal Path. This area of coastline is stunning, visit the 6th century St Govan’s Chapel built into the cliffs, or the Green Bridge of Wales, as well as some of the County’s most beautiful beaches including Barafundle, Swanlake, Angle and Broadhaven South, the best approach is on foot from Bosherston with its Olde Worlde Tea Room and St Govans Inn pub, walking round the Lily Ponds and down onto the beach. Freshwater West beach made famous as the film set for the Harry Potter movies and Robin Hood is popular with surfing enthusiasts and is less than 2.5 miles away. The historic town of Pembroke with its majestic medieval Castle is less than a 15 minute drive and offers a good range of shops, pubs, restaurants and antique markets to wander.

You are assured of a warm welcome at this ideal holiday home, just for two to escape to whatever the season.

Please note that the property is set in a unique location close to Castlemartin military firing range. The range covers an area of 2400 hectares on the South Pembrokeshire coast within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

The Castlemartin military range closes for the month of August and there are guided walks available during August on the scenic coastal area that covers the military range.

Castlemartin has the highest concentration of seabirds on the Pembrokeshire mainland, including guillemots, razorbills and kittiwakes. Most important of all, it provides an ideal habitat for the nationally-rare chough. The coastal heath and unimproved grassland also supports birds such as wheatears, skylarks, meadow pipits and stonechats.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path, a National Trail, crosses Range East (during non-firing periods) and inland along 8 km of roads past Range West. When firing is in progress the road diversion through Bosherston provides a longer walk. Vehicle access is available to Stack Rocks and St Govan's Chapel. Both of these are popular with sightseers, climbers and fishermen. The sea cliffs provide some of the best cliff climbing in the UK.

Range West and the inland part of Range East are generally not open to the public. However, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority/Defence Estates organises regular accompanied walks into this area. Many other groups are also catered for through annual safety and conservation briefings. These access opportunities are only available during non-firing periods.

'Such a warm welcome from you Hazel and Wayne with the lovely Bella and Bailey immediate friends for our Molly Collie. Thank you for the "goodies", your hens lay exceptional eggs. We have stayed in many holiday houses and cottages with family and friends and for the two of us Little Comfort is the tops; comfortable, well equipped, homely, welcome feeling. Ideally located to visit Pembrokeshire's fascinating places especially the beaches; but it is the friendliness of people that makes a place warm. So thank you, and we hope you will have us back' September 2019

'Time flies and this week was no exception. What a lovely cottage and a wonderful location. The hosts were both brilliant and everything you could possibly need was provided. The hosts dogs and our dog had a good old runaround in the garden and he will miss the place. I've seen some lovely places and the weather was very kind and I would most definitely return here. Thank you Wayne, Hazel and dogs. See you again soon' September 2019

A lovely warm welcome awaited us here at Little Comfort. Wayne and Hazel couldn’t have been more helpful during our stay. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable – Perhaps the name should be changed to ‘Great Comfort’!! The animals are gorgeous, especially Bella, the area and scenery are second to none! We have had a great time – Thank you.
